Hollingbury Park were presented their Club Mark award by MP Caroline Lucas and Sussex County Bowls President Ken Woodcock before the Sussex Under 25's game. Ken and Caroline both expressed their congratulations to the club on receiving this prestigious award and the hard work that had gone into gaining it. Ken pointed out that Hollingbury are only the second Bowls Club in Sussex to receive this award.

The presentation was made to Mike Biggs who has been the Club Mark coordinator and the Club Captain Alan Hawkins. Since deciding to gain Club Mark Hollingbury Park BC have entered into close ties with the local schools and to date have run taster sessions for 290 children both at their schools and at the club greens.

Club Mark is the universally acknowledged accreditation scheme for community sports clubs. It shows that the club provides the right environment to ensure the welfare of the members and encourage everyone to enjoy sport and stay involved throughout their lives.
Mike Biggs, said: "We are delighted to be only the second bowls club in Sussex to achieve Club Mark accreditation status. This achievement recognises the fantastic work by our members, coaches and volunteers, who make this a club to be proud of".

29th May 2015:
Hollingbury Park BC is now officially "Club Mark" accredited. We received this news today (Friday 29th May 2015). A great achievement for the club and one all members can be proud of.
This process started back in October 2014 and culminated at the end of May 2015.
The club will now press on with trying to secure a grant from Sport England Inspired Facilities Fund to improve our Club House facilities which have become very outdated. If we secure this funding and the extensions to our club take place we will have a building we can use all year round, one which will be warm to use during the winter months and will include many other activities which we are unable to do at the moment.
No doubt our membership will rise too as our club house is often the one reason given why people don't join our club. With two greens to play on and a wide variety of other social events during the summer months our club can go forward with confidence that it is a forward thinking club.
As 2018 will be our Centenary Year lets pull out all the stops to get a modern well insulated club house we can be proud of and use all year round in place by our Centenary Year.

Preston Open Finals 19th July 2014

Winners of the Preston Open Triples Tournament.
Mike Biggs, Alan Hawkins and Dave Nevell.
A hard fought week of games at Preston. Our original skip was Dave Hubbard who played superbly all week for the team. Unfortunately Dave was un-available for the Final game on Saturday morning so late on Friday evening we drafted in Alan Hawkins to play for us at two and we went on to win by a clear 10 shots. We are still all on cloud nine after our win.

A wonderful day out was enjoyed by all the players and guests. Our hosts made us very welcome and provided us with a superb tea. The green was lovely as was the setting and we managed to finish the game before the rain returned.

The under 25's visited Hollingbury Park and the club and the under 25's all had a very good day. The BBQ was fired up to provide the players with food which was enjoyed by the youngsters.
It was lovely to see so many young players enjoying the game of bowls and playing it to a really high standard too.
